YU Yureka S
Yu Yunique release date in India: July 25, 2017
Yu Televentures is not dead yet. The young subsidiary of Micromax Mobile has released an upgrade to their entry level phone. The Yu Yunique 2 price in India is Rs 5,999 and that is its USP. The company which was almost thought to be dead is back with a necessary upgrade. We find out whether it's an upgrade worth noting or not in this expert review of the Yu Yunique 2.
Android 7.0 Nougat, 5-inch HD, 13MP + 5MP Camera setup.
Low power processor, Poor battery capacity.
The MediaTek processor is a let down on this handset. Despite its lower price point, we still believe that a Qualcomm processor could have been included as Xiaomi did with Redmi 4A. The MT6737 is the model number, it is a first 64-bit low-end MediaTek processor, which allows it to support up to 4GB RAM. This quad-core chipset clocks at 1.3 GHz and is accompanied by a Mali GPU for graphics processing.
The Yunique 2’s camera specification is something that’ll cheer up the budget consumers in India. The rear camera is of the 13-megapixel sensor, which an autofocus module with 4X Zoom level. It is supported by a LED Flash. Talking about the front facing module, it sports a 5-megapixel resolution sensor, which makes your selfies flaunt-worthy. It’s a decent combination!
The battery capacity on Yu Yunique 2 is quite disappointing. When brands are equipping their phones with as much as 4000 mAh battery even on 5-inch phones, Yu Mobile could have done a better job of at least including a 3000 mAh capacity battery. What’s done is done now! We only hope it offers the claimed battery life.
Design and Display:
You thought a budget phone can’t have good look. Well, you thought wrong. The Yun Yunique 2 completely shatters the budget haters with its fantastic design language. It indeed comes with the plastic body, but claims to give a solid feel. Moreover, the back cover gives it a comfortable unlike most of the slippery smudgy handsets in the market. Concerning the display, it is a 5-inch HD resolution screen that has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Thus, offering protection from drops and mishaps.
The storage capacity on this phone is at 16GB, which can be expandable up to 64GB via microSD card slot. The interesting fact is that you don’t have to compromise on your SIM card slot. Because there is a separate dual SIM card and a dedicated microSD card. Now don’t compromise on the storage with Yu Yunique 2 in India.
As far as the Yunique 2 specifications are concerned, it is a pretty good device for a budget pricing. But if you look at the experience, it might not be the best in its class. The greatest competitor of the new Yu budget phone is the Xiaomi Redmi 4A. Except in the processor and battery department, Yunique 2 has pretty good specifications. And it has potential to be at least a second choice after Redmi 4A in the Sub-6K category.
