Yu mobiles entered India with the aim to compete in the budget segment. Their sales through online platforms have been great so far. With Yu Yunicorn they took the game to the next level. The Yu Yunicorn packs appealing features at a price of INR 9990.

First thing that attracted us it the phones’ metal outfit. Compared to other devices in the same category, this feels premium. Although, the weight is a little too much at 170 grams. It sports a 5.5-inch display that offers high definition viewing. It is protected by a 2.5D curved glass. It is clearly visible under harsh sunlight and offers wide viewing angles. At times the display might change to a very bluish tone, but that can be manually adjusted.

Yu Yunicorn has a minimal yet elegant design. It comes with three colour options i.e. silver, gold and graphite.

It comes with a fingerprint sensor which is also new as per the price factor. There are no issues unlocking the device as the sensor is pretty good.

Under the hood, it packs 4GB of RAM. surprised right? It is amazing to get this amount of RAM under 10,000 bucks. Paired with that is an Octa Core MediaTek MT6755 processor. Both of these make a good team to ensure smooth functioning of the device. The overall performance is satisfactory the only problem being very heavy games.

Yu has outdone themselves this time in terms of cameras. They might not be as good as Samsung but we are not complaining. The image quality is crisp. There is a 13MP unit on the rear and a 5MP unit on the front. It takes amazing photographs in good light but does lag behind a bit in low light. However, it still provides a decent output.

On the connectivity front, the Yu Yunicorn has a lot to offer. It comes with 4G connectivity which is the need of the hour. Then come the standard WiFi and bluetooth. It has two SIM card slots, one of them is hybrid (can be used for microSD card).  If the onboard storage (about 25GB available for use) is not sufficient, you can backup your data on the Mimedia app that serves as a cloud.  

The 4000mAh is obviously a pro but it is the sole reason why the phone is this heavy. However, it will serve you for an entire day with normal usage.

Overall, at a current price of INR 9990, the Yu Yunicorn has out of the world specifications. It is a treat for budget buyers. Not only does it bear good RAM, it also has good cameras and a huge battery. We would definitely call it a steal.
