Company Origin: Nextbit is an American technology focused company which manufactures electronics like smartphones and other smart accessories. Nextbit now has become a subsidiary
Razer Inc. is, in fact, an American company founded by a Singaporean. It specializes in making computer hardware related to gaming. Founded in 2005, the company also has Ouya and THX in its bag, along with the Nextbit.
The Nextbit Robin is a cloud based phone which almost stores all the data and apps in cloud instead of using phone’s physical memory.
Nextbit is a product grown with the help of crowdfunding. Within the hours of launching the product, the funding has reached $500000 and $1 million within a month. And right after the company has announced in 2017 that it was acquired by Razer and the sales too were halted immediately.
Robin is the first smartphone released by Nextbit. Styled as Nextbit Robin, the phone comes with a 5.2-inch TFT display with full HD resolution and capacitive multi-touch screen.
With 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory, the Nextbit Robin comes with an expandable memory of 32GB. Coming to the cameras, the Nextbit Robin comes with a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The company claims that the video recording quality goes up to 1920x1080p @ 30fps. Additional features of the cameras include Autofocus, Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, and Touch to focus
With dimensions of 125 x 22 x 1.1 inches (149 x 72 x 7.0 mm ), the Nextbit Robin is made up of polycarbonate with matte finish. Also, the Robin comes with a 2680 mAh Li-ion non-removable battery and 4G connectivity. However, one downside of this Nextbit Robin is that it comes with only single SIM availability. While this is normal for people from the west, maximum number of Indians take it as a drawback as they’re used to using dual SIMs in their phones.
Coming to the processor, the Robin comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core processor with Adreno 418 Graphics Processing Unit and Cortex A53 architecture that’s clocked at 1.8GHz. While it is a beast in performing vigorous multitasking and other operations, the Robin is not that good for gaming as it comes with a low level GPU.
Additional features of the Nextbit Robin include a Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope among others. And the fingerprint sensor is included in the power button, as the company thinks it’s unnecessary to spend some separate real estate on the phone for fingerprint scanner.
The Nextbit Robin price in India is INR 19,999. Design wise, the Robin is a home runner, but when it comes to physical strength of the phone and the little doubted ‘cloud storage’, the phone is a bit left-out.
Services and warranty:
You don’t have to worry about the service of this American branded phone in India. There are a lot of Nextbit service centers in India, including all the major cities and towns. Also, as the phone is mostly available online, it is advised that you to reach the services and return section of the website you bought the phone from, in case of any help of complaints.
Also, the Nexbit service centers and Nextbit customer care branches are situated in more than 150 cities and small-scale towns. And if you wish to ask any queries, you can always reach the Nexbit customer service at 1-866-308-1194.
Without a doubt, the Nextbit won it all for its daring innovation. But the fact that it lacks dual SIM technology and works on the basis of ‘cloud first’ gives the phone a status of out of the box. And not many people want to dare and invest around 20K to just ‘check it out’. But overall, the phone had its time while it was launched in 2015. If you have no problem in using a single SIM smartphone and cloud based memory, then with closing eyes, go for it. Expect for these two, the phone has got great cameras and a powerful processor.
Also, we can expect more phones from the Nextbit in near future and this time with features we want and familiar with.

The Nextbit Robin runs on Android Marshmallow although it has its own skin of interface.
