Moto G5s Plus release date in India: August 29, 2017
Motorola has made a special edition Moto G handset that is essentially an upgrade to the Moto G5 Plus. It’s called Moto G5s Plus. The new handset is available for purchase in India on Amazon. When you talk about the Moto G5s Plus price in India it is simply amazing at Rs 15,999. Looking at the Moto G5s Plus specifications you’d be surprised to see for extra Rs 1K (Rs 14,999 for Moto G5 Plus) what all you are getting as an upgrade. We weigh in on that in our expert review of Moto G5s Plus.
Dual Rear Camera, Android Nougat 7.1.1, Fast Charging
Low battery capacity at 3000 mAh, Average performing Snapdragon processor.
Motorola maybe advertising that the Snapdragon 625 processor on their latest Moto G5s Plus handset is a powerful chipset, but that isn’t quite true. Qualcomm who is the manufacturer of this SoC has better Snapdragon 600 series processor that Motorola could have used instead. This SD 625 processor is equipped with eight cores and claims to clock at 2.0 GHz. The configuration of this processor might not be up to your requirements.
The optics department is something that we would like to look at, cuz it offers a dual camera on the rear side. The big upgrade is the introduction of the dual camera. These 13 MegaPixel double sensors on the rear make for an improved photography experience. Whether you talk about the low-light photography or capturing details, they both have been improved on this handset. The selfie experience has got better with an 8 MegaPixel sensor and a front facing flash light support.
To be honest, Motorola could have at least made sure that when users go out shopping for their handsets they wouldn’t notice comparatively small capacity battery at 3000 mAh. These days smartphones come with an average battery capacity of 4000 mAh. While Motorola has trust on their Moto G5s Plus handset to offer a day’s charge even at 3000 mAh, but it wouldn’t be easy to convince that to most users in India. The one good thing that company did was equip their Moto G5s Plus smartphone with a fast charging support.
Design and Display:
When it comes to the design of the Moto G5s Plus, it is similar to the Moto G5 Plus. There is literally no change in the design field, which is fine. It’s fine cuz Motorola has hit the right pointers on the design on the previous model. A unibody metal finish gives it the look and feels it deserves for the price it comes. Talking about the screen, the display on this handset is a 5.5-inch unit and supports full HD resolution. Thus, the pixel density is 401 PPI, which is good. Instead of using an LCD screen, Motorola could have got better results with a Super AMOLED display that you see on most of the Samsung phones in India, even in entry level segment.
Motorola has really thought through before launching the upgraded Moto G5s Plus. This special edition is getting all the love. The storage capacity on this handset is of 64GB. Unlike original model, this one comes with a bigger storage and comes only in one variant. If you want to expand the storage, then, there is a microSD card slot that allows expansion up to 128GB.
Well, what do you know when a company launches an upgrade to their handset within just weeks of launching original handset. They completely screwed over the original handset owners. Motorola has pulled off just that with their Moto G5s Plus upgrade. When you talk about the Moto G5s Plus features such as camera, storage, and RAM, they are better for the price they come. If you are a Motorola fan, then, this is a perfect handset if you haven’t already purchased a Moto G5 Plus. If you have then, you are screwed by the brand.
