LG Q6 Price

Expert Review

LG Q6 release date in India: August 09, 2017

LG, the South Korean giant has managed to somehow provide a bezel-less phone in the mid-range category. This is the first of its kind handset in the mid-segment and that’s what makes it so interesting. At a price tag of Rs 15000, there are many options one could go with. But why should you buy this handset? We give you some insight, all you have to do is decide if it’s fit for you or not.

What’s hot?

Bezel Less Display, Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

What’s not?

No Fingerprint scanner, 3000 mAh capacity battery is low for a 5.5-inch High resolution display.

Processor:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor is the power house on the LG Q6. While it’s good to see a Qualcomm chipset, it’s not exactly a powerful processor. Equipped in low-end devices like Xiaomi Redmi 4, the Snapdragon 435 offers good speed and gaming configuration as well as support for fast network connectivity. But what’s not acceptable is the price one should pay for this decently powered processor. Rs 15,000 is just too much for a device with this processor.

Camera:

Where companies are focusing a lot about the camera and even introducing dual camera in the sub-15K category, LG is stuck with a single lens 13MP rear camera with nothing much to add to its USP. It is a standard rear module. The availability of PDAF feature is not shared by the company. So, we can’t comment on the focusing abilities of this handset for now. The only interesting point in the camera department is the 5MP selfie camera that claims to sport a 100° wide angle lens. Thus, allowing you to fit more people and surroundings to capture the whole scene.

Battery:

The battery capacity on LG Q6 is 3000 mAh. For a device with 5.5-inch Full HD resolution, this battery capacity isn’t enough to last for a day. If LG Q6 had been using a stock Android Nougat, then we could have expected and recommended that it can be easily optimized for a day’s charge. On top of that, there is no fast charging support on this device. So, now you can understand why there’s not much trust on this handset in terms of battery life.

Design and Display:

The design is one of the USP of this device, all thanks to the bezel-less screen and material used to manufacture the body of the product. The LG Q6’s body is made out of strong 7000 Series aluminum. It sports a lightweight design all thanks to the “H Beam” frame, which is designed to better endure the impact of a fall. Minimal body, no camera bump, and rounded corners makes the smartphone experience on your palm simply comfortable. Talking about the display, the company is calling it a FullVision display. The 5.5-inch display comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio, thus, giving you large screen to view your favorite Netflix shows. The viewing experience has improved a lot on this one. All thanks to the FullVision bezel-less screen.

Storage:

Storage is no issue on this handset as there is a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 2TB. Yes, you can take storage to next level on LG Q6. The on board storage is 32GB, which is an ideal amount these days on smartphones.  The internal storage of 32GB keeps user's wondering if that would be enough to download multiple applications, as not all apps can be directly downloaded on to the MicroSD card. To those users, the storage available is ample and except for Whatsapp, every other application is movable.

Verdict:

If you are up for a smartphone with no fingerprint sensor, a decently powerful processor and the camera isn’t what you care much about. Then, this is probably a handset for you to purchase. The LG Q6 specifications are quite unique when compared with other mid-range handsets. When you take the LG Q6 price in India into consideration, which is priced at Rs 14,990, then, it’s not a worthy handset unless you are seeking a bezel-less experience. The alternative includes Moto G5 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the recently launched Lenovo K8 Note, which was released on the same day as LG Q6.
