Lava International Limited is an Indian national corporation in the smartphone industry. The firm is based out of Noida and has an in-house R&D and product-testing set-up in China and India. The Lava A50 is an entry-level smartphone with average specs. However, it offers the benefit of being a compact handset with a 4-inch display. The Lava A50 price in India is expected to be INR 3,099 and is due to be launched in November 2017.

In terms of hardware, this device is powered by a Quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.2 GHz with a Spreadtrum SC7731G chipset. This processor acts as the brain of the device and enables multitasking. The capacity of RAM is 512MB, that manages the basic mobile tasks with ease. As far as software goes, it runs on Android v6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system.
In the optics department, the Lava A50 device has a 5MP rear camera with features like Autofocus, LED flash, and digital zoom. The secondary camera on the front is a 0.3MP or VGA which can capture basic selfies. But it captures grainy pictures at best. The main camera can capture simple images. Even in low-light conditions clear images can be snapped thanks to the LED flash. The camera app flaunts the regular set of features like panorama and geotagging among others.
Design and Display:
The Lava A50 has a 4-inch TFT display and comes with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It features a decent pixel density of 233 ppi, thus making the display of this handset sharp. TFT displays provide good quality and vibrant colours. Also, the presence of a capacitive multi-touch screen ensures an interactive mobile phone user experience for the customer. The handset dimensions are 123 x 63.4 x 9.7 mm. It comes in silver and black colour variants. The dual-SIM phone comes with options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, A-GPS, and micro USB 2.0.
In this device 8GB internal memory is available which can be expanded up to 32GB via a MicroSD card. No need to worry about storage space, you can comfortably store media files, apps, applications, and more without having to go through the process of deleting media.
The Lava A50 is equipped with an Li-ion type unit with 1550 mAh capacity. This battery is user replaceable. At best, the battery can last for around ten hours.
To conclude, the Lava A50 is a budget phone with many good capabilities like smooth performance, Marshmallow OS and good battery life. The availability of GPS connectivity enables the use of Google maps. But it cannot be connected to a 4G network. Moreover, it has a small display. However, considering its cost, these flaws can be overlooked and this Android phone will certainly entice the cost-conscious first-time smartphone users.
