Xiaomi is celebrating its four year anniversary in India this month and they clearly deserve the success. Xiaomi’s success is not only for them but for their consumers as well. Since they are enjoying high-end specifications at the relatively affordable price when compared to incumbent players. Continuing its disruption in the market, Xiaomi may finally release a sub-10K smartphone with the dual-rear camera sensor, which would be called Xiaomi Redmi S2.

A trend that is quite popular in Indian mobile industry; Dual-rear camera smartphones. So far Xiaomi has only introduced only two models with dual rear camera setup, one of which is discontinued (Mi A1), whereas the other one (Redmi Note 5 Pro) is marketed close to Rs 15,000. With the popularity of phones like Lenovo K8 Plus, Infocus Snap 4, Honor 9 Lite and the couple more, Xiaomi has realized its time to jump the bandwagon.

On a side note, Xiaomi has released the total of three Smart TVs in India and the latest one is the Mi TV 4A 43-inches, which retails at the aggressive price tag of Rs 22,999.

Which is why the company is reportedly planning to introduce a new Redmi Smartphone series. It will probably be a Redmi S Series. Thus, the name Redmi S2.

Though, there is a but involved here, this but is regarding the cost of ownership. Whether the Xiaomi Redmi S2 price would be competitive to the market or its own line-up. Because it would create a conflict of interest. Currently, if you look at the Xiaomi Redmi series, it starts from Rs 5,999 and goes up to Rs 9,999 without any major gaps left out to address. So, the company has to either place their handset in competition to their existing handset or price it above Rs 10,000. Which would be it?
