Could Nokia 9 Beat Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6?
We put Nokia 9 in a title match with Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6
This year many hardcore Nokia fans will have their dreams fulfilled. The company might introduce Nokia 9, which is touted to be a High-end flagship smartphone. Could it beat Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6? Let’s find out.
Design & Display
Nokia might set fire on stage, as that’s what will happen if the rumored Nokia 9 is confirmed. There are not many details leaked about the design. But according to reports, it should be an all-metal smartphone with a sturdy design. It is Nokia’s signature design. Reportedly, the display might be bezel-less to counter the Samsung’s Galaxy S8. Unlike Samsung’s Super AMOLED screen technology, the Nokia is expected to introduce OLED. Do make a note that LG G6 sports an OLED with 2K resolution. Nokia 9 might sport a QHD (2K) resolution 5.5-inch OLED screen.
Hardware & Performance
Coming to the processing power of these flagships, Nokia is all set to overpower Samsung and LG with Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB RAM. The 835 is a latest Qualcomm Octa-core processor clock at 2.45 GHz. While Samsung’s flagship also sports a Snapdragon 835 processor in some regions, it has a lesser 4GB RAM unit. Talk about the LG G6, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 821, which is a two-year-old chipset and packs 4GB RAM. Thus, it can be said that speculated Nokia would win here.
Nokia handset might come with a 3800 mAh capacity battery and Quick Charge 4.0. In comparison, Samsung handset sports 3000 mAh, while LG phone comes with a 3300 mAh. The Finnish company is reported to offer Iris Scanner technology on this unconfirmed handset. Currently, Iris scanner is equipped on Samsung’s new flagship models, i.e. Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8 Plus. Additionally, the rumored handset is said to come with a fingerprint sensor, IP68 rating, and OZO audio enhancements.
These days it’s easier for companies to lure users by introducing dual-lens camera setups on rear and front as well. Samsung offers 12MP dual-pixel sensor and LG has invested efforts to put dual 13MP sensors on the rear. Nokia is expected to introduce 22MP Carl Zeiss dual lens on the rear. Of course, we are not living in a world where camera quality is judged based on the megapixel count. But looking at the Carl Zeiss track record with Nokia phones. We may get an impressive camera on high-end to beat current contenders. Only time would tell this.
It is expected to come priced at $699, while it is reported to be priced relatively lesser in India at Rs 44,999. Whereas in European market the handset would see a €749 price tag. Talking about the Samsung Galaxy S8, the company has priced its handset at $719.99 in the United States. And the G6 is on the lower-end at $650.
The purported Nokia 9, if and when it comes, looks to pack a punch. Its fat specifications list would align it with best Android phones available in the market. This rumored high-end smartphone from HMD Global is obviously the most anticipated handset now. Every Nokia and Android smartphone user looking to upgrade this year would surely wait for this handset.
